• What is Education For? by David Orr: This article was a foundational text in my career. I first discovered it in grad school, even quoted it throughout my graduate thesis. I still find myself coming back to it again and again. This essay offers a powerful framing of sustainability’s place in education. It pushes us to think about higher education not just as gaining knowledge, but also as a responsibility—to our communities, to the planet, and to future generations.
